Kabul Bus Sides 2004
Monsieur K was a special correspondent for the Sunday Telegraph and travelled to Afghanistan in 1997, 1998 and 2004.
Waiting for the call to be summoned to Baghram Airport to then travel by Blackhawk to the Forward Operating Base at Camp Salerno in Khost in the mountainous North Eastern part of Afghanistan… Monsieur K wandered the streets of Kabul.

One of the many sights that turned his head were these bus and van signs with their oddly optimistic and upbeat ‘Ingleesh’ phrases and messages of hope. They brought him a smile – which he now hopes they will you. These artworks were based on the photos he took walking Kabul.
Monsieur K’s other photography on this trip went on to be used by Alex Gibney in his Oscar winning documentary feature “Taxi to the dark side”.
